The Kent County Road Commission is currently accepting applications for Road Maintenance Worker. This position performs multiple physical-labor activities that include maintaining and constructing roads and right-of-ways; repairing damaged roadways; and installing, maintaining and replacing road signs, guardrails and fencing. This position will safely and efficiently operate trucks and various pieces of equipment, including chain saws and other tree/brush removal equipment, and drive with underblade to level dirt/gravel and plow snow/ice - all while presenting a positive image of the Kent County Road Commission to the public.

A high school diploma or equivalent and six months of maintenance/construction experience involving truck driving and equipment operation is required, as is possession of a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an “N” (Tank) endorsement, or ability to acquire one, and successful completion of a physical examination and a substance abuse test. Position is on-call 24 hours as weather conditions warrant, performing duties day and/or night on shifts of 12 or more consecutive hours, up to 7 workdays each week.
