ABOUT THE PROJECT
Phase 1, between Forest Hills Avenue and Medical Park Drive (325’ west of the Cascade Road/Forest Hills Avenue intersection), begins Monday, April 25 and is projected to be completed by Friday, May 27. Work consists of removing all of the existing asphalt and replacing it with concrete pavement. The road will remain open with lane closures.

The start date for Phase 2, between Kenmoor Avenue and Medical Park Drive (325’ west of the Cascade Road/Forest Hills Avenue intersection), is to be determined. Timing will be coordinated with the Cascade Road/I-96 asphalt paving. Phase 2 resurfacing work will include the removal of all of the existing asphalt and its replacement with new Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). The road will remain open with lane closures.

Wayne Harrall, KCRC’s Deputy Managing Director of Engineering, explained that the project is being completed in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) I-96/ Cascade Road Interchange Project. “We wanted to minimize the length of time that motorists would be impacted by construction on this stretch of Cascade, so we aligned our project to coincide with MDOT’s project,” said Harrall. “Cascade Road will offer challenges to motorists this summer, but we are hoping to minimize headaches by having both agencies complete their projects in one construction season rather than two.”
