Week of July 11 -  Work Begins on Burlingame Avenue, Foreman Street (Maston Lake Postponed)

The following Kent County Road Commission (KCRC) projects and permit work begin this week and include detours:

1. Burlingame Avenue
Limits: 76th Street to 84th Street
Project Type: Permit work – sanitary sewer, street widening
Detour: Yes
Scheduled Start: July 11
Projected Completion: September 2, 2016

About Project: The permit work includes installation of ±735 feet of sanitary sewer and service laterals on Burlingame Avenue from ±150 feet to ±885 feet south of Tonja Drive. It also includes widening of Burlingame Avenue for left turn lane and associated tapers for two (2) new street intersections from new plats, from Tonja Drive to ±200 feet north of Copperfield Drive. Questions regarding the project should be directed to Exxel Engineering (616.531.3660). This section of Burlingame Avenue will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The detour, below, is posted.

2. Maston Lake Drive Over Clear Creak
Limits: Trufant Avenue to Sorensen Avenue
Project Type: Bridge work (cross culvert replacement)

Detour: Yes
Scheduled Start: July 13 (postponed due to a utility confllict - new start late August/September 2016)
Projected Completion: Fall 2016
Work Completed by Kent County Road Commission Bridge Crew

About Project: The project consists of the removal of the existing bridge, replacement with a precast box culvert, installation of new guardrail, and roadway reconstruction in the immediate vicinity of the bridge, including topsoil and restoration. The crossing will be completely closed with the detour, below, posted.

3. Foreman Street
Limits: Alden Nash Avenue and Cumberland Avenue
Project Type: Permit work – water main installation

Detour: Yes
Scheduled Start: July 14
Projected Completion: September 2, 2016

About Project: The permit project consists of work on Foreman Street open cut water main and storm sewer pipe installation along with ±1520 feet of roadway widening construction for left turn lane. Questions regarding the project should be directed to Mike Berg, Dykema Excavators, 616-363-6895 ext. 331. This section of Foreman Street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The detour, below, is posted.
