KCRC is anticipated to receive an additional $9 million in funding for 2019, thanks in large part to $300 million of surplus revenue allocated to transportation by the Michigan State Legislature. The anticipated $3 million increase in general fund dollars will be dedicated to edge-to-edge road and bridge improvements, with 25 percent committed to routine maintenance activities. The one-time $6 million increase from surplus revenue will allow KCRC to accelerate priority road and bridge improvements.
The Kent County Board of Road Commissioners approved the installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of 13 Mile Road and Pine Island Drive during their August 14 board meeting. KCRC plans to have the all-way stop installed by the end of the week, as conditions allow.
