Work is scheduled to resume Tuesday, August 13 on this full-depth mill and fill reconstruction project. Work will include removal and replacement of existing asphalt surface on the west side of Byron Center Avenue. On Tuesday, August 13, there will be a one-day closure of northbound traffic; a detour will be posted. Southbound Byron Center Avenue traffic will be maintained. Two-way traffic will resume at 7 p.m. that evening, Tuesday, August 13. Work will continue under lane closures to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction.

UPDATE: (August 1) KCRC is taking the necessary steps to minimize the impact of the strike by Operating Engineers Local 324 against Rieth-Riley Construction, a KCRC contractor, that began today, July 31. On Byron Center Avenue KCRC crews are restoring the asphalt surface along the center lane where manhole covers have been removed. The center lane will be reopened once the spot paving is complete to restore all lanes of traffic. Once the labor dispute is resolved, KCRC will work with Rieth-Riley to reschedule the remaining work.
Project summary: There will be lane closures for resurfacing. The project will consist of milling and resurfacing the existing roadway and upgrading of sidewalk ramps to current standards. Byron Center will remain open to through traffic for the entirety of the project with lane closures and traffic shifts used as necessary to complete the work. Access to all businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
