10 Mile Road

US 131 to Meijer Driveway; Childsdale Ave to Rogue River

September 11 - October 31, 2017

This project includes 0.62 miles of hot mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing and concrete divider removal on 10 Mile Road from the US-131northbound ramps to east of Belmont Avenue, from east of Belmont Avenue to east of Meijer Drive and from Childsdale Avenue to Rogue River Bridge.

28th Street and Kraft Avenue

August 21 - October 31, 2017

The project will consist of widening the north side of 28th Street east and west of Kraft Avenue to provide for a dual left-turn lane on 28th Street and right-turn lane extension west of Kraft Avenue.  Kraft Avenue will be widened north and south of 28th Street to accommodate dual left turns off 28th Street and provide dual through movements on Kraft Avenue north and south of 28th Street.  The existing traffic signal will also be upgraded to accommodate for the new lanes.

Intersection Widening and Driveway Realignment

August 21 - October 21, 2017

Intersection Realignment to line up Cannonsburg Ski Resort Commercial Driveway with Myers Lake Avenue. Project will include trenching, underdrain installation, roadway widening, cold milling and HMA paving. A left-hand turn lane will be installed for EB and WB Cannonsburg Road at the new intersection. EB Cannonsburg Road will also feature a throughlane and dedicated right-turn lane at the ski resort.

M-21/Fulton Street to 700 feet north

August 28 - November 8, 2017 (non-roadway work - Spring 2018)

This project will consist of relocating Crahen Avenue, beginning at the existing bridge over the railroad (approximately 700 feet north of M-21/Fulton Street) and intersecting with M-21/Fulton Street, to align Crahen Avenue with the existing intersection of M-21/Fulton Street and Forest Hill Avenue (approximately 620 feet east of the current intersection of Crahen Avenue and M-21/Fulton Street).

Jupiter Avenue Bridge (Plainfield Bridge #24)

Jupiter Avenue over the Grand River, south of West River Drive

July 10 - September 15, 2017

The preventative maintenance project will be completed in two phases: The first phase will include concrete approach pavement repair, and expansion joint installation. The second phase will include shot blasting the entire deck surface and sealing with an epoxy-based sealer.  

JUPITER AVENUE UPDATE (August 9): The Jupiter Avenue bridge project is proceeding on schedule and all lanes are currently open to traffic. The concrete and expansion joint repairs on the bridge have been completed and the only work that remains is to apply an epoxy seal to the bridge deck. Before the epoxy seal can be added, the concrete repairs must cure for 28 days. Therefore, we anticipate that in 3 to 4 weeks, limited lane closures will be put back into place in order to apply the epoxy seal, which takes about one week to complete. During the epoxy seal process, at least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain in place

Widen existing 5 foot wide concrete sidewalk along Clay Avenue on the west side of Clay Avenue from 68th Street north to M-6 right-of-way. Continue east constructing a 10 foot wide asphalt non-motorized trail connecting to the Trailhead parking area at Division Avenue. The project Includes pedestrian bridges over the Norfolk Southern RR and Buck Creek.  Local match provided by the County of Kent.

Lamoreaux Drive to Brookgate Drive - South

September 18 - September 30,2017

Mill & Fill is a structural pavement treatment that involves the removal of the existing surface layer - and in some cases the entire asphalt pavement thickness - with a milling machine and the replacement of the milled location with new asphalt. This process is used when a surface has deteriorated to poor condition and surrounding grades (i.e. curbs, driveways) must be met. This project will be a 3-1/2" Mill and Fill.

Project will consist of widening both Whitneyville Avenue and 68th Street to provide dedicated left-turn lanes and wider paved shoulders.  Project will be done under through traffic with the exception of a 2 to 3-day period where the intersection will be closed to through traffic to allow for concrete removal. Message boards announcing the closure will be posted one week in advance and a detour will be posted.
