US 131 to Meijer Driveway; Childsdale Ave to Rogue River

September 11 - October 2017

This project includes 0.62 miles of hot mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing and concrete divider removal on 10 Mile Road from the US-131northbound ramps to east of Belmont Avenue, from east of Belmont Avenue to east of Meijer Drive and from Childsdale Avenue to Rogue River Bridge.

July 10 - August 10

The project will consist of widening for a left turn lane on 13 Mile Road east and west of Alpine Avenue. Work includes concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, block retaining wall, asphalt pavement, pavement markings, and restoration.

28th Street and Kraft Avenue

August 21 - November 11, 2017

The project will consist of widening the north side of 28th Street east and west of Kraft Avenue to provide for a dual left-turn lane on 28th Street and right-turn lane extension west of Kraft Avenue.  Kraft Avenue will be widened north and south of 28th Street to accommodate dual left turns off 28th Street and provide dual through movements on Kraft Avenue north and south of 28th Street.  The existing traffic signal will also be upgraded to accommodate for the new lanes.

M-37 and 100th St southeasterly to 108th St

Construction of a 10 foot wide asphalt non-motorized trail extending from the existing Paul Henry Thornapple Trail in the Village of Caledonia south and east, crossing the M-37 & 100th Street signalized intersection to the unimproved railroad bed, and continuing southeasterly to 108th Street connecting to the improved trail in Barry County.  Local match provided by Caledonia Township.

Intersection Realignment to line up Cannonsburg Ski Resort Commercial Driveway with Myers Lake Avenue. Project will include trenching, underdrain installation, roadway widening, cold milling and HMA paving. A left-hand turn lane will be installed for EB and WB Cannonsburg Road at the new intersection. EB Cannonsburg Road will also feature a throughlane and dedicated right-turn lane at the ski resort.

Jupiter Avenue Bridge (Plainfield Bridge #24)

Jupiter Avenue over the Grand River, south of West River Drive

July 10 - September 15, 2017

The preventative maintenance project will be completed in two phases: The first phase will include concrete approach pavement repair, and expansion joint installation. The second phase will include shot blasting the entire deck surface and sealing with an epoxy-based sealer.  

JUPITER AVENUE UPDATE (August 9): The Jupiter Avenue bridge project is proceeding on schedule and all lanes are currently open to traffic. The concrete and expansion joint repairs on the bridge have been completed and the only work that remains is to apply an epoxy seal to the bridge deck. Before the epoxy seal can be added, the concrete repairs must cure for 28 days. Therefore, we anticipate that in 3 to 4 weeks, limited lane closures will be put back into place in order to apply the epoxy seal, which takes about one week to complete. During the epoxy seal process, at least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain in place

This project will provide for a three-lane roadway, one lane in each direction and a center turn lane. Work includes tree removal, culvert replacement, ditches, earthwork, grading, sand subbase, aggregate base, asphalt paving, pavement markings and restoration. Gaines Township will be funding sanitary sewer extension to 84th Street and sidewalk extension north to 76th Street.

Project will consist of widening both Whitneyville Avenue and 68th Street to provide dedicated left-turn lanes and wider paved shoulders.  Project will be done under through traffic with the exception of a 2 to 3-day period where the intersection will be closed to through traffic to allow for concrete removal. Message boards announcing the closure will be posted one week in advance and a detour will be posted.
