2009 PRIMARY CONSTRUCTION

 

 

60^th Street – East and West of Kalamazoo Avenue

Reconstruct and widen to provide a boulevard section with indirect left-turn lanes. Includes concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, sidewalk ramps, HMA pavement, full-depth concrete pavement and traffic signal modifications.  Two-way traffic (one-lane in each direction) will be maintained during construction.

            Planned Completion Date:  July 31, 2009

 

Northland Drive – 13 Mile Road to 14 Mile Road (M-57)

Reconstruct and widen to five-lane section. Includes concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, and HMA pavement.  This project includes replacement of the bridge over Stegman Creek.  Through traffic will be detoured.

            Start Date:  March 30, 2009

            Planned Completion Date:  August 28, 2009

 

Patterson Avenue – 28th Street to Burton Street

Remove existing HMA pavement, install 42-inch diameter sanitary trunk sewer (City of Grand Rapids) and resurface road.  Includes concrete pavement over HMA base (whitetopping).  Through traffic will be detoured.

            Start Date:  April 1, 2009

            Planned Completion Date:  August 1, 2009

 

INTERSECTION PROJECTS

 

13 Mile Road @ Pine Island Drive

Reconstruct and regrade 13 Mile Road east and west of Pine Island Drive to improve intersection sight distance. Includes earthwork, drainage, and HMA pavement.  Through traffic will be detoured.

            Start Date:  April 13, 2009

            Project Complete and Open to Traffic:  May 21, 2009

 

76^th Street and Riley Street @ Kenowa Avenue

Reconstruct and realign Riley Street and 76^th Street at the Kenowa Avenue intersection.  Includes earthwork, culvert and drainage work and HMA pavement.  Through traffic will be detoured.

            Start Date:  April 13, 2009

            Estimated Completion Date:  June 26, 2009

 

Lincoln Lake Avenue @ 17 Mile Road

Reconstruct and regrade Lincoln Lake Avenue north and south of 17 Mile Road to improve sight distance.  Includes earthwork, drainage and HMA pavement.  Through traffic will be detoured.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROJECTS  

 

4 Mile Road & Fruit Ridge Avenue

Modify and upgrade existing traffic signal.  Maintain 2-way traffic with intermittent lane closures.

Segwun Avenue & Grand River Drive

Extend left-turn lanes and install traffic signal.

 

Crahen Avenue @ Bradford Street

Reconstruct and regrade Crahen Avenue north and south of Bradford Street to improve intersection sight distance.  Includes earthwork, drainage and HMA pavement.  Through traffic will be detoured.

 

BRIDGE PROJECTS

 

Algoma Bridge #25 – Northland Drive over Stegman Creek

            Remove existing two span concrete bridge and construct single span, 5-lane precast concrete I-beam bridge.

            Planned Completion Date:  August 28, 2009

 

Gaines Bridge #10 – Hammond Avenue over Plaster Creek

Remove existing single span steel I–beam and concrete (jack arch) bridge and install a single precast concrete box culvert.

            Start Date:  July 6, 2009

Planned Completion Date:  August 28, 2009

 

 

NON-MOTORIZED PROJECTS

 

M-6 Trail (Phase 3) – Clyde Park Avenue to Division Avenue       

Construct a 10-foot wide HMA Trail along the south side of M-6 between US-131 and Division Avenue.  Construct a 10-foot wide trail along Clay Avenue.  Includes bridges carrying the trail over Norfolk Southern Railway, Buck Creek and Division Avenue.

 

Muskatawa Trail / White Pine Trail Connector

Construct a 10-foot wide HMA trail connecting with the existing Muskatawa Trail at 8^th Avenue in Ottawa County and the White Pine Trail in Comstock Park.
