Local Agencies’ “Fleets through the Streets” Celebrate National Public Works Week

Thank you to all of of the families and friends who helped celebrate Public Works Week by joining us for the Fleets through the Streets parades. We compiled a slideshow with images from each of KCRC's parades; please enjoy, below!

 

Local public works and road agencies are sending their “fleets through the streets” in celebration of National Public Works Week, running May 16 - 22. Residents are invited to watch a parade of equipment and big trucks from the route nearest their home while maintaining a safe distance from others.

The parade option offers a convenient opportunity for residents to engage with personnel and equipment, often from the comfort of a family’s own neighborhood. The positive response from last year’s events motivated the expansion of festivities to include more agencies and routes this year.

Participating public works departments will post their parade information on their city’s website, and a comprehensive list of parades is provided, below. Additional “real time” updates will be posted to the agencies' social media platforms on parade day.

Since 1960, the American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week. Across North America, more than 29,000 members in the United States and Canada use this week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives.
