Local Agencies TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ENFORCEMENT of Seasonal Restrictions

Beginning Wednesday, February 1 at 6 a.m., the following local agencies will TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ENFORCEMENT of Seasonal Weight and Speed Restrictions until further notice:

Kent County Road Commission (KCRC), Barry County Road Commission,
Ionia County Road Commission, Montcalm County Road Commission, Ottawa County Road Commission, City of Kentwood, and the City of Walker

The temporary suspension of enforcement is based on the current forecast of decreasing temperatures and frost levels. When temperatures are low enough, the ground freezes and the road becomes strong enough to withstand normal legal loads.

Please note:

  • This is a TEMPORARY suspension of the enforcement of seasonal restrictions
  • Because the suspension is temporary, Seasonal Restriction Signs will NOT be removed from roadways
  • Restrictions will be enforced again when temperatures and conditions warrant
  • Agencies will use the same outreach tools to announce when restrictions will again be enforced

Those with truck-related questions may contact the Michigan Center for Truck Safety at 1-800-MTA- 4MTA (1-800-682-4682).

The KCRC Seasonal Weight and Speed Restriction Hotline: 616-336-2019
