Public Works Family Open House

All are invited to help us celebrate the employees and equipment that help keep the community safe, clean and moving during the annual Public Works Week Family Open House on Wednesday, May 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kentwood Department of Public Works, located at 5068 Breton Road SE. The Kentwood Department of Public Works hosts the event in partnership with the Kent County Road Commission in honor of National Public Works Week, May 15 through May 21.

The open house will feature giveaways, hands-on activities for kids, and an up-close look at a fleet of vehicles and other equipment. Live maintenance and repair demonstrations will allow residents to learn about road improvements as well as the safe disposal of household waste.

Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided.

Additionally, a gallery will display nearly 300 entries from the 2024 Work Zone Safety Poster competition. The contest invited third-grade students from across the county to design a “caution sign” focusing on safety tips for driving through a work zone.

We hope to see you Wednesday!
